Not sure what to make of all the Garcia talk, but it looks like Smelley will be our guy against Vandy. It will be interesting to see how Smelley performs under pressure during this game. He looked good last week, but he did it in garbage time. There will be pressure this week: Vandy looks good, and Smelley surely remembers the stinker he turned in last year against the Commodores. This game will be his chance to redeem himself for that, as well as to win the starting spot for good.

I noticed a link to these interesting statistics on the NC State blog Section Six. We ranked 104th with 3,838 miles, while Fresno State ranked first with a whopping 18,190 miles. I guess you could either say that we're environmentally conscientious or afraid to leave the southeast. Probably due to their game in Tempe, Georgia was the first SEC team ranked at 47, lending some credence to the idea that SEC teams don't travel. Not that any reasonable person should have a problem with that.

The depth chart for the opener against N.C. State was released over the weekend. As The State notes, the only major surprise is Stoney Woodson beating out Carlos Thomas. At LT, Hutch Eckerson managed to fend off Jarriel King and Quintin Richardson.
